Labor Day 2024: What You Need to Know About Store Hours and Services!
Washington: Labor Day, observed on Monday, September 2, 2024, signifies the unofficial end of summer in the United States. As students gear up for the school year, many Americans enjoy one last long weekend of barbecues and beach trips.
This holiday pays tribute to the American labor movement and the contributions of workers to the economy. While some are enjoying leisure time, others will have errands to run, such as grocery shopping or banking.
Shopping Hours
If you need to shop, you’re in luck! Most grocery stores under the Kroger brand, including Kroger, Ralphs, and Harris Teeter, will be open during regular hours. Major retailers like Walmart and Target will also operate as usual. CVS Pharmacy locations will generally remain open, though some may have limited hours. Walgreens will follow regular hours, but many pharmacies will be closed except for select locations. However, Costco will be closed for the day.
Services Closed on Labor Day
The United States Postal Service will not be delivering mail, and UPS will only offer its Express Critical service at limited locations. FedEx will operate its Custom Critical service for urgent shipments, with modified hours for FedEx Office.
Banks will be closed for the holiday, though ATMs and online services remain available. Both the NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange will not trade on Labor Day. Federal offices, local courts, and government buildings, including the DMV and libraries, will also be closed.
